How long have you been in the industry and what brought you to it?
I started working in the mortgage industry in June of 2014, which certainly does not feel like it was almost nine years ago. It was pure chance that brought me in. After working in the entertainment industry for more than a decade, I was looking to leave Los Angeles. I applied to a fulfillment company that was opening a new office in Orlando. That company brought me on to run marketing, and so this journey began.

Tell us a little about your role as Director of Strategic Relationships?
It’s my privilege to seek out other institutions, both vendors and lenders, that Asurity can partner with to not only support each other’s business and growth strategies - but to also help move the industry forward to more efficient and streamlined processes.

In your role, what motivates you each day?
It’s exciting to be a part of a company with such amazing talent behind the scenes developing some pretty incredible software. And because we have such cutting edge technology, it has opened doors for us and allowed me the opportunity to dive in with other leaders in the technology space and get a taste of how innovative the future of mortgage technology can be.

What inspires you most about the company?
My colleagues here at Asurity are the best part of each day. Not only is there a respect and passion for what we do, but there is genuine camaraderie. We celebrate our respective and collective wins and do our best to align and support through challenging times. It’s amazing to me that we have been able to retain that culture as we transition to an almost entirely remote environment. I believe that is a true testament to our people.

What has been one of the most exciting projects you’ve worked on?
Since I started working for Asurity four years ago, I’ve been fortunate enough to hold different roles and responsibilities. One of those roles was being a part of the team that put together our first ever Fair Lending Forum. It was a wild success, and there’s nothing quite like watching a large event of that nature come together - the satisfaction and pride in what we were able to accomplish as a team, with great support from our friends and partners in this industry, was just a joy.

What do you find unique about working at Asurity?
I appreciate and find it very refreshing that a lot of my colleagues are women.

What is something about you that most don’t know?
I used to work as an actor for theme parks - Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Japan. I played various roles in the many years I spent at the parks, but most notably was as an impersonator of an iconic blonde legend - which often required me to sing Happy Birthday!

What are your hobbies?
I sometimes participate in 48 film festivals where I produce, write and act in short films with some old buddies from my days in the entertainment industry. Asurity even allowed me to utilize our DC office as a set location for my latest short!
